Ethan's obituary
Ethan Michael Lewis, aged 30, passed away on October 5, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. Born on April 13, 1994, Ethan was a cherished presence in the lives of his family and friends, embodying the spirit of kindness and dedication.
Ethan's journey through life was marked by his proud service in the United States Marine Corps reserves, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that defined his tenure. His commitment to service extended into his civilian life, where he worked in various customer service roles, viewing each as an opportunity to help others. His most fulfilling role was as a caregiver to his younger brother, a job that brought him immense joy and satisfaction.
A graduate of Centennial High School and Oregon Connections Academy, Ethan was a lifelong learner who pursued knowledge in every aspect of his life. His creative spirit shone brightly through his hobbies; he was an avid participant in the Society of Creative Anachronisms, taking on the persona of a pirate, and he enjoyed tabletop roleplaying games. Additionally, Ethan expressed himself through singing and writing, sharing his voice and stories with those around him.
Ethan's spirituality was deeply rooted in Pagan beliefs, viewing nature as his sacred space. This connection to the earth was a core aspect of his identity and spiritual practice.
He is survived by his brothers, William and Devon Lewis; sister, Heather Rothacker; mother, Katrina McMurry; stepfather, Timothy McMurry; father, Wayne Lewis Jr; stepmother, Vaughna Danosky; and grandparents, Michael and Gloria Stevenson. And his long term spouse, Bailee Walker.
Ethan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gerry and Trudy Lane, Wayne and JeanAnne Lewis, and maternal grandmother, Gloria Hooper.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, at Parkrose Masonic Lodge, near his home, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and celebrate his life.
Ethan's legacy is one of love, service, and community, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His life reminds us of the profound impact one individual can have through acts of kindness, dedication, and love.
