Esther's obituary

Esther Walker, 97, passed away at her residence in Albany on January 22, 2026. She was the daughter of Jesse and Mary (Landes) Freeman, in Lacona, Iowa. She married Charles Robert Walker Sr. on August 31st, 1951 in Lebanon, Oregon. 

In 1958, Charles and Esther bought a home on 29th Avenue in Albany and raised their family there. Esther worked for many years at Smoke Craft in Albany. Esther's greatest happiness came from spending time with her very large extended family. She was blessed with many friendly neighbors. She enjoyed counted cross stitch and other embroidery, as well as making homemade noodles and the best pies. 

Esther is survived by her children, Carole Estherchild (Robert Cook), Charles Walker Jr., Timothy Walker (,Beth), five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. 

She is preceded by her husband, Charles Walker Sr.; children, Gregory Walker and Annette Garner; siblings, Vivian, Mable, Robert, Guy, Mary, Frances, and Lavonna.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28 at 10am at First Christian Church, SWv432 Ferry Street, Albany, Oregon.
