Pat's obituary
Esther (Pat) Mildred Tharpe Sorrentino, age 96, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025. Esther Mildred Tharpe was born December 23, 1928, in a small town near Mt. Vernon, Georgia.
Once Pat earned her Valedictorian accolades from High School in 1945, she moved to Atlanta as a young adult and went to work for Southern Bell. However, longing to see the world, she quickly decided to become a Flight Attendant (or Stewardess as it was called in those days). She applied and was accepted into Eastern Airlines Flight School out of Miami, Florida. Pat met and married, the love of her life, Carmine Thomas Sorrentino, in October 1966. Pat worked for Eastern Airlines until she retired in 1987. She then volunteered for Eastern Airline Retirees Association for the next 30 years, becoming President for a time. Pat lived in Miami for over 70 years, earning her the distinction of “Honorary Original Citizen”. Pat had a passion for helping others and was always ready to host. She was a lifelong learner, eager to take a class about bookkeeping or learning how to recover furniture. She would go out of her way to make others feel welcomed and loved.
Along with her parents, Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Tom and her four siblings. She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Penny Roberts of Villa Rica, GA, James Tharpe of Buford GA, Jeff Tharpe of Madison MS, Tony Tharpe of Mobile, Alabama, Jeanine Tharpe Meyer of Alpharetta, GA, as well as countless great and great, great nieces and nephews. Her light and love will be sorely missed.
A service to honor the life of Pat Sorrentino will take place from 2-4 in the afternoon on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Mansions of Alpharetta, 3675 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta, Georgia.
