Esther G. (Knapperberger) Leister, age 84, of Wellsboro, PA, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Esther was the daughter of the late Monroe J. and the late Esther G. Knappenberger. She was the loving wife of Robert P. Leister, Jr. who she made happy nearly 62 years when God joined them in marriage on October 29, 1960.

Esther is survived by her children, James (Karen) Gleason of Tioga, PA, Sharon of Tioga, PA, William (Sarah) Leister of Wellsboro, PA, Robert Leister of Steamboat Springs, CO, Daniel (Melissa) Leister of Mansfield, PA, Terrell of Wellsboro, PA, Shawn of Wellsboro, PA, Shaune of Athens, PA, James of Elmira Heights, NY, Ben of Doylestown, PA, Melinda of Wellsboro, PA, Devin of Wellsboro, PA; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and siblings, Becky Landis of Green Lane, PA, Ruth Knapperberger and Vonnie Mangle of Souderton, PA, Monroe Knappenberger and Martha Pechano of Souderton, PA, Florence (Sugar) and Joseph Schmitt of San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Daniel; sisters-in-law, Jane and Lydia; also many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Esther loved reading, doing puzzles, crocheting, and spinning wool. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed taking care of her large family. Esther walked with God, and will be deeply missed by those who knew her and will like to meet everyone in heaven someday.

Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 6-8pm and on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 11am-12pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 637 S. Main St. Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow at 12pm on Saturday, September 3, 2022. Burial will take place in West Branch Cemetery.
