Esther's obituary
ESTHER'S OBITUARY
Esther Christine Cook Clawson, our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2024 at the age of 50. She was born on April 7, 1973 to Marilyn (Hamilton) and Garold Eugene Cook. Esther grew up in Riverton, Utah. She attended Southland Elementary School, Oquirrh Middle School, and Bingham High School.
While attending Bingham High, she met Brice Clawson. They were married on March 30, 1991 in South Jordan, UT. Brice and Esther were married for 29 years. They later divorced but remained friends. Brice and Esther were blessed to have two children, Cameron, and Cearra. Esther found great fulfillment in being both a wife and mother. She was dedicated to her family and together, she and Brice were their kids’ biggest supporters in all aspects of their lives. She was an amazing mother, putting her two kids first. She loved them and was so proud to tell anyone about them and considered them to be one of her greatest accomplishments. She spent as much time with them as she could. She traveled the state watching many of her kids' baseball and softball games. If she wasn’t supporting them at a sporting event, they were camping as a family.
She was thrilled and proud to be given two extra kids, MarShelle and Melissa, through marriage. Despite being in-laws, she never treated them differently than her own.
Esther was blessed with two granddaughters, Kaycee Christine, and Raylie Jae. Along with the joy of being a mom, being a grandma was another one of her biggest joys in life. She loved spoiling her granddaughters. Esther loved taking the girls shopping or to the movies, having them over for sleepovers, walking to parks, working on crafts, going out to eat, and finding many other fun things to do together.
Any spare moment she had; Esther was spending time with her family. She would often plan things to bring family and even extended family together. Over the years her family has enjoyed camping, riding RZRs, playing in the water, weekly dinners and attending country music concerts.
Esther loved to travel, even more so in the last several years. Over the years, she enjoyed visiting Lava Hot Springs, Island Park, Disneyland, Washington DC, Hawaii, and camping at Flaming Gorge, which was one of her favorites. She enjoyed relaxing in the sun on a beach with a drink in her hand. Just this year, she went on a cruise to Mexico, visiting Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, Cabo and also took a trip to Cancun.
In addition to loving her family, Esther loved to shop and was fashionable and always put together. She loved having her nails and eyelashes done. She was an avid napper.
Esther started her career with JRC Inc in Salt Lake City as a receptionist in 2001 and worked her way up to office manager/accounting. Through her dedication and hard work throughout her career, in the last 5 years she became one of the business owners of JRC.
Esther is going out of this world as a hero by giving life through organ donation, saving, and helping as many lives as she possibly can.
Esther is survived by her children Cameron (MarShelle) Clawson and Cearra (Melissa) Clawson; granddaughters Kaycee and Raylie Clawson; father of her children Brice Clawson; siblings Garold Cook (Dave Hawes), Kaylene Cook, Scott (Renee) Cook and Roy Cook; boyfriend Austin Littlefield; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents.
Though she is no longer with us, she has left the lives of those lucky enough to have known her, filled with much love and joy. A celebration of life will be held at a later date
A celebration of life will be held on April 6 at The Azalea, 11277 Kestrel Rise Rd, South Jordan, UT 84095 from 5:30pm-8:30pm. Wear pink in honor of Esther.
