Esther's obituary
December 7, 1948 – August 20, 2025
Esther Bandes Miranda, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and devoted Catholic, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Katy, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Esther was born on December 7, 1948, in Managua, Nicaragua. From an early age, she thrived on the volleyball and basketball courts, building both her character and lifelong friendships through her competitive spirit and team camaraderie.
In the early 1970s, Esther married the love of her life, Mario Bandes. Their partnership was defined by laughter, mutual support, and a deep devotion that carried them through decades of joy. Though Mario’s passing years ago left a void in her heart, Esther honored his memory every day, cherishing the life they built together.
A devoted Catholic, Esther’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was an active parishioner, volunteering with her church community, leading prayer groups, and nurturing her spiritual life with grace and humility. Her strong faith influenced her compassion, guiding her to serve others with love and kindness.
After settling in Katy, Texas, Esther devoted herself to nurturing her family. She was a guiding light to her children, encouraging their dreams with warmth and wisdom. In later years, she delighted in her grandchildren’s milestones—cheering them on at school plays, teaching them her favorite recipes, and sharing stories of her youth in Nicaragua.
Family meant everything to Esther. She was a devoted sister, always offering support and sharing laughter with her siblings, and remained close to them across borders and time zones. Known for her kindness and generosity, Esther extended her caring nature to neighbors and friends. Whether volunteering at community events or hosting impromptu backyard gatherings, she made everyone feel welcome and valued.
Esther is survived by her children, grandchildren, and siblings, who carry forward her legacy of compassion, resilience, and zest for life. Though her family grieves her loss, they celebrate a life rich in love and vibrant memories.
A private family memorial will be held to honor Esther’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a youth sports program of your choice, reflecting Esther’s belief in teamwork, discipline, and the joy of play.
