Dear Ernie's Children and Family Members,
I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your father. While we haven’t met, I wanted to extend my heartfelt condolences to you and your families during this difficult time.
I would often call and speak with your dad, especially around the holidays. He always shared updates and spoke with such love and pride about his family. I called a couple of weeks ago and left a message on his phone. When he didn’t call back, I had a feeling something wasn’t right — and when I searched his name, I found what I had sadly suspected.
I grew up knowing your father, his brother and sister, and your grandparents. Your grandfather was the brother of my father, Percy Lemas. Uncle Ernie left a lasting impression on me as a warm, kind-hearted person, and your father truly followed in his footsteps. I have fond memories of him as someone who was thoughtful, generous, and always ready with a smile. We shared a love of music. His kindness touched many, and he will be greatly missed.
Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the love and support of those around you brings some comfort in the days ahead. Please share my condolences with your mother and with Maida as well.
With sympathy,
Bill Lemas

Nancy,
We are truly saddened to hear of Ernie’s passing. We always enjoyed visiting with him both in the neighborhood and across the fence from my mom’s house. I remember the ping pong tournament many years ago when you all lived on Mobley Ln. Ernie was one wicked ping pong player. We will hold fond memories of him.

Words often seem in adequate at times like this. And yet, the obituary, using only words, painted this beautiful man perfectly. Ernie was absolutely one of a kind. He was pure joy. What a dream it would be to live in a world designed by Ernie. I will hold him in my heart always❤️
