I had the great opportunity to have known Ernest. He was among the finest people I have ever known, as are his parents. He exemplified the pinnacle of humanity, courage, and achievement. I hope for the best for his family for now and forever.

Ernie, you were always so kind and ready with a smile for those who knew you. I remember your good attitude, even during the period you had dental work done at school. I remember thinking I couldn’t do that but you made it look so easy and still had a smile ready for those around you (even though we all knew you must have been in some serious pain). I loved being in E1 as well with you at the helm. I always found time to attend E1 activities because of people like you running out company. You helped make Firstie year fun and one I’ll never forget. You will be missed.

Sylvia

Today is Iris' birthday and I am reminded of the time Ernest  organized a surprise birthday party from Kuala Lumpur and flew in to see her. It was clear that seeing her brother was the best surprise of all. I remember being so touched by his love and thoughtfulness and how special their love was. I did not know him well personally, but reading all the memories here, he lived life to the fullness, was generous and kind, loved his friends and family, loyal and sweet. You are missed and I know that you are now at peace in God's arms.

This one hurts a lot. Ernest, you were one of the biggest inspirations to our generation of USMA and KARS underclassmen.

You cheered all of us along major milestones in our lives and always took the time to mentor us and to share your thoughts, whether it was a call or a simple email.

One of my biggest professional and life lessons have come from you when you told us as young infantrymen and future SF officers to "master our sword."

You truly have lived the life that we envy and the exemplar that we strive to become everyday.

Thank you for gracing us with your presence, humor, and intellect. You will live forever in our hearts and minds.

Be thou at peace
