Erna's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Erna Eklund. Born on April 2nd, 1937, Erna graced this world with her presence for over eight decades before her peaceful departure on October 1, 2023. A woman of remarkable character, Erna was known for her wit, humor, politeness and sternness that equally earned her respect and endeared her to many.
Erna is survived by her adoring son, Marco Pauli, and her two daughter's Christine Eklund and Bekki Eklund who will forever hold dear the invaluable lessons they learned from their mother. Spending time with Erna was a lesson in humanity itself, where her favorite saying, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and "Turn the other cheek" were not just words, but principles she lived by.
Among her countless achievements, Erna was most proud of her three children and her three grandchildren (Bekki's children) Chase Desouza, Ryann DeSouza and Hannah Nichols. Her commitment to motherhood, and to being Omi to her grandchildren coupled with her love and dedication, played a central role in shaping their lives. As someone who placed high value on relationships, Erna's family was the heart of her universe.
Erna leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and respect. She was indeed the matriarch of her family, and her absence has left an irreplaceable void. No one can fill her shoes, and her family will never be the same without her. She was a strong, resolute woman who, at the same time, was the embodiment of compassion and love. Her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the lives she touched, and the love she shared.
To say that Erna will be missed is an understatement. She was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her, and her spirit will continue to guide us. As we navigate through this time of grief, we find solace in remembering Erna's life, which was fully lived, her character, that was beyond reproach, and her love, that was without end. Rest in peace, dear Erna. You will forever be in our hearts.
