Erma's obituary
Erma Marie Holcomb
September 9, 1949- August 29, 2025
Erma Marie Holcomb, of Oak Hill, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025 just days before her 76th birthday.
Born on September 9th, 1949, Erma lived her life with fierce independence and an adventurous spirit. Never one to stay in one place to long, she found joy in traveling and was most at home on the open road— especially during her years as a truck driver, a job she truly loved.
Erma is survived by her daughter, Jaime Childers and her five grandchildren that brought great pride to her life: Johnathan, Devon, and Brandon Hathaway, along with Brittiny and Christopher Holcomb. Her memory will live on through them, and through the stories and strengths she passed down.
She is now reunited in peace with her beloved son, Benny Holcomb, whom she missed dearly.
In one final act of generosity and purpose, Erma donated her body to science—continuing her journey by helping others, just as she always had in life. Marshall University School of Medicine, Human Gift Registry , 1542 Spring Valley Drive, Huntington, WV 25704
A peace lily has been dedicated in her memory by her grandson Johnathan and his wife Audrey Hathaway — A symbol of remembrance, love, and eternal peace. A few songs dedicated as well that she loved “Country Roads” and “Poems, Prayers and Promises” by John Denver, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill, and Psalms 23: 1-6
Erma will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strong will, her love of the road, and unwavering care she gave to those around her.
