Erlinda's obituary
Erlinda Chan Domingo of North Las Vegas, Nevada passed peacefully in her sleep on May 29, 2024. Born in Manila in the Philippines on March 10, 1940 to Luis and Isabel Chan, Erlinda enjoyed 84 years as the most devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt to her many beloved family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years Carlos Domingo, with whom she built an amazing life that spanned both incredible time and distance. She also now joins her dearly missed parents and her sister (and best friend) Lody, as well as her two brothers Boy and Nitoy.
She is survived by her sons Edgar (Emily) Domingo of Scarsdale, NY and Carlos Domingo, Jr. of North Las Vegas, as well as her granddaughters Isabel and Olive. As a mother she was an ever-present source of love and support, pushing her sons to always be the best versions of themselves. She was finally rewarded with the baby girls she had always dreamed of when her twin granddaughters were born, and she loved them with every fiber of her being.
Erlinda was an incredibly intelligent person who never met a challenge she could not surmount. She was an accomplished and tireless student, one of few women to graduate from medical school in the Philippines as early as 1965. After a brief medical residency in Germany, she emigrated to New York in 1970, serving as the vanguard for her many family members who would follow her path. Later that year she married the love of her life Carlos, who had courted her since their meeting in Manila. They subsequently moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived for over three decades, running successful small businesses and raising their family.
Erlinda loved to travel, to be with family, to tend to her beautiful garden and to laugh. Always up for a trip to Europe or Asia, or a cruise to a tropical location, she was a constant travel companion for so many of her friends and relatives. The memory of her laughter and her unceasing love will be carried by all who knew her.
