Background
This campaign is for my beautiful, smart, amazing and strong sister-in-law, Erika.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in June 2017 at the young age of 33 years old after discovering a small lump under her right breast. It was one of those rare under 2% chance diagnosis for a female under 40 years of age.
After a few tests and scans it was determined the the cancer was an aggressive and relentless type which spread to the lungs, bones, ovaries and liver.
The last two years have been a relentless battle of weekly chemotherapy treatments, emergency surgeries, expensive medications and countless overnight emergency room visits.
Few people knew about the diagnosis and battle Erika and our family have been dealing with, she was never the type to ask for help, she has always been a strong independent girl who took pride in conquering her own battles.
Unfortunately, September of this year, we were told no additional treatment options were available and she would need to be admitted to hospice services. After a long battle, Erika passed on Tuesday, December 3rd, surrounded by family. This campaign is to help our family with the financial burden of medications, health bills, in home care services and of course upcoming funeral services.
We are a small family with very little financial resources. Our hope is that this campaign is to try and remove, or at least lessen the impact from this financial burden and help us spend less time worrying about money and allow us the time to spend with our sister-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin and daughter as we move through the motions of this difficult time. Our goal is to have all the resources available to us to help our dear sister-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin and daughter stay as comfortable as she can be during her transition <3
