Update from Feb. 7, 2026

you know that in tragedy your body is designed to go into shock because in God's infinte wisdom he knows we can only handle so much at one time?

My heart hurts, physically hurts, emotionally hurts. The daily what if's of being in the hospital are gone, the funeral arrangements were made and completed, and life continues on without Eric. It feels as though the shock is wearing off little by little and the raw pain of all those days combined is surfacing. Memories of those days hit hard.

There are new what if's, new moments, new days but none that have him in our presence. Almost everything is different, normal is not normal anymore. Yet, God remains the same. God is greatest and He knows best. God continues to shower us with blessings and grace, with family and friends who hold us close to their hearts and to the Father in prayer. Thank you for letting God use you to love us and care for us.

Update from Jan. 26, 2026

Late last night, Eric Walston took his final breaths with his brother Trevor and I by his side.

Though the past two weeks have felt like a ship in a raging storm, I can see God using each moment for good. God gave us the gift of time to express our love to Eric, and to process and accept his coming death. We are deeply saddened that Our Main Man is not with us anymore, yet we know he is rejoicing in heaven with Christopher, Nana, Norrie, Granny, and many other loved ones, as well as a great cloud of witnesses. He is sailing on the ships of heaven. We love you Eric.

Update from Jan. 24, 2026

12 days have come and gone since we began this journey. It has been long and hard, tiring and still I see the goodness of God in the journey. God has reminded me, I am never alone. I am loved and supported by many. God is always near. And , God continues to give me strength for the journey.
I do not know where this journey will continue to. But I know who does and I trust in Him.

Eric has changed since transitioning to comfort care. He is no longer awake and alert. We've been told it is unlikely that he can hear us, but to keep talking to him. His breath is labored and inconsistent. My heart hurts for him.
