It is with a heavy heart that our family announces the passing of my father Eric Gallant, who departed our lives too suddenly on October 18th, 2025, from terminal cancer.

Born in 1942 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Eric eventually moved to Montreal where he met the love of his life & wife of 49 years, my mother, Diane Gallant.

After many happy years living in Montreal, Eric & Diane moved to Maple Ridge, BC where Eric lived out the last 9 years of his life. He loved the raw beauty of the West coast—the mountains, the beaches, how everything felt ‘bigger’ in scale.

My father was a man of quiet confidence, endless empathy & a huge heart. He was always smiling, ready to offer a hug, and loved his grandchildren deeply. He was always my ‘safe space’ in this world, and his absence has created a void that I can never fill.

He is survived by his wife Diane, his brother Blair (Betty), his only daughter Connie (Joe Bakish), his three grandchildren Abby, Oskar & Eva, his dog Truffles and his cat Celeste.

A small celebration of life will be held in Maple Ridge BC a few days before Christmas.

He will forever be deeply missed, loved and admired, and we can only hope to do him the honour of remembering his spirit through our actions & compassion to others.
