Eric Joseph Cootware, 37, of North Fort Myers, passed away on February 26, 2026.

Born on September 6, 1988, in Fort Myers, Eric was the son of Steve and Joann Cootware, both of whom preceded him in death.

Eric’s life was defined by his devotion to those closest to him. Above all, he was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Alice, who was the center of his world and his greatest joy.

An amazing cook, Eric took great pride in his craft. Throughout his career, he worked hard to gain the experience and skills needed to perfect and protect his culinary talents. The kitchen was one of the many places where his creativity and passion shined, and he found joy in preparing meals that brought people together.

Eric adored his family and treasured every moment spent with them. Eric was preceded in death by his brother Justin.  He is survived by his siblings, Steven, Tiffany, and Matthew; his brother-in-law, Travis; and his sisters-in-law, Megan and Madonna. He was also a devoted uncle to his twelve nieces and nephews — Makayla, Jazmine, Savannah, Mya, Makenzie, Tiana, Ava, Charlotte, Justin, Izabella, Gemma, and Camden — each of whom he loved with all of his heart.

Eric will be remembered for his humor, his loving spirit, and the warmth he brought into every room. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will live on through his daughter and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
