We are truly saddened beyond comprehension for Joyce and the entire family! Emory was an exemplary example of a Dad, a Husband, a friend and a human. I have no words and have been reflecting and praying for everyone since hearing of this tragedy. Emory has been an amazing father figure to my nephew Casey, and I know Casey loved him so much. Emory was always supportive of the boys sporting events, never missing one; he helped Joyce through so many difficult times and never stopped fighting for her, he has been a mentor to those boys from the start, he always demonstrated such kindness and grace to my parents who have now passed, yet always knew their grandchild was safe forever with Emory guiding him.
I pray you all stay strong and support each other and find some peace in this terrible tragedy for this great man!
Amy Jennings -Rix and on behalf of the Jennings family .

Met Emory and Joyce in Florida. He was a great guy and full of life. We were fortunate to see his building skills as he and Joyce toiled to rehab their condo. The end result was just short of spectacular! We'll miss you, Emory. May God bless you, Joyce.

Emory became part of my life in 1972 at Osco Drug in Mundelein with Chris. Thoughts and prayers for the Patterson Family.

Some of my fondest early childhood memories were with Emory. For a few years I would spend a week in Mundelein IL with Emory, Gail, Kathy, and Pat. My cousin, Christine, who we loving called Aunt, would take us to a different lake everyday. During those visits I recognized the compassion Emory had towards others. Never naughty, passionate about water sports and curious about nature I found myself mimicking his ways. My sincerest and deepest condolences to your entire family.
