Emmanuel's obituary

Emmanuel “ Manny” Doh Muffuh, was a caring, honorable and devoted soldier, son, partner, father, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. Manny passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 11th, 2021 after a brief but courageous battle with metastatic lung cancer. Even though cancer snatched him away too soon, his optimistic, compassionate and loving heart leaves a beacon of hope for the very young family he leaves behind.

Manny was born Saturday, December 19th, 1964 to the late Mary Tah Muffuh and late Bernard Vekeni Muffuh. Manny is survived by his fiancée Laura Mafung, three children Kaziah, Bernard, and Maryana; the children of his deceased big brother Michael: Diandra, Melissa, Mickey, Macrea; as well as by his siblings Constance, Phyllis, Nelson, Lawrence and Divine; and several Muffuh, Tah and Forje cousins, aunties and uncles.

Born in Cameroon, he attended secondary school at Cameroon Protestant College Bali and then moved to the USA in 1976 to further his education. He attended Howard University and majored in Physiology. Manny later joined the US Military in 1997 till 2001. He served from the military base in Heidelberg Germany for most of his career in the Military.

Manny was also an ardent poet and a bona fide wordsmith with a flair for language. One of his key dreams was to publish a collection of his poetry. He had an unwavering quest for knowledge and pursued further certification in pharmacy tech, medical billing and coding as well as hospitality and programme management in the final years of his life.

Manny was an easy going, peaceful and fun-loving soul whose joie de vivre was contagious. Manny found humour in every life circumstance and the comic relief we got from the inappropriate jokes/comics he shared regularly on WhatsApp will be sorely missed. He loved having intellectual debates whilst spending time with friends and family and enjoying a can of beer or some whiskey.

Although Manny departed this world for the next too soon, he will forever be cherished, missed and loved. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
