Emma Patricia Gonzales, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away unexpectedly following a very brief illness on Thursday, October 13, 2022. She was 45.

Emma was born on November 5, 1976 in Farmington, New Mexico to Jimmy Gonzales and Patricia Silva. After she graduated from St. Pius High School in Albuquerque in 1995, she went on to study French at University of New Mexico, earning her Bachelor's degree in 2000.

Emma met her husband, Mike Carroll, through a mutual friend in 2014 and they welcomed their beloved son, Jose, on October 1, 2015. Emma and Mike were married on May 26th, 2016. Jose was the center of Emma's life. She stayed home to care for him and was a fiercely devoted advocate for him, and for all children with special needs.

Emma enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting, and she loved making unique and thoughtful gifts for family and friends. She was passionate about protecting women's reproductive freedom and was a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood.

Tragically, Emma's mother, Patricia Silva, unexpectedly passed away in June of this year. It is with great pain and sadness that Emma's family must now say goodbye to another beautiful and vibrant loved one, gone too soon.

Emma is survived by her husband, Mike; son, Jose; father, Jimmy Gonzales (Linda); sister, Danielle Gonzales (Tim Wahlers); brother, James Gonzales; nieces, Zailie, Isabella, and Rose; nephews, Michael and Andrew; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Emma was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Silva; and grandparents, Jose and Dora Gonzales and Agapito and Socorro Silva.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH -University.
