Emma's obituary
Emma Maria Diaz of Orlando, Florida, passed away at home on March 22, 2025. She was born in Havana, Cuba, on January 2, 1957, and maintained a strong connection to her roots after moving to the United States with her family as a child. She went on to become a U.S. citizen in 1984.
Emma graduated from Holy Rosary Academy (class of 1975) in Union City. She eventually moved her family to Orlando from New Jersey, making Central Florida her home for the last three decades of her life.
Emma and her husband ran a small business before she moved on to a dedicated 20-year career at Siemens Energy- a testament to her unwavering work ethic and pride in her abilities.
Emma was a strong woman with a big heart who was a second mother to many of her son's friends. She loved animals and spent many years volunteering with the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, fostering stray cats and helping them find their forever homes. She also loved music, dancing, and exploring the worlds of fantasy and sci-fi in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Francisco Perez, and her husband, Isidro Miguel Diaz. Emma had two brothers, Francisco Perez Jr. and Carlos Perez (1943–2024). Her beloved dog, Scarlett, loyal to the end, followed her three days later.
Emma is survived by her sons, Michael and Steven Diaz, who will forever cherish her memory.
