Emily's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Emily "Emmy" Hager on August 13, 2025. Born on May 24, 1983, Emily was deeply loved by all who knew her. She was an incredibly giving individual, always offering help to others even in her own times of hardship.
Emily graduated with an Associates degree in Arts and Early Childhood Development from Gaston College in 2017. She used her education and passion for helping others by volunteering at Richardsons Rescue and an animal rescue organization. Her love for animals was evident in her everyday life, often seen walking in the woods and mountains, accompanied by her dogs.
Emily had a vibrant and diverse range of interests. A lover of literature, her favorite book was Dante's Inferno. With a varied taste in music, her favorites included Rob Zombie, The Cranberries, and Pink. An avid viewer of performances, she enjoyed horror movies, concerts, comedies, and documentaries. One of her most loved TV Shows was King of Queens, and her favorite movies were House of 1000 corpses and The Strangers. She also found pleasure in going on cruises and spending time at Linville gorge, one of her favorite local spots.
Not only was Emily a lover of nature and animals, but she also held a deep care for the elderly. This compassion was reflected in her personal life and volunteering efforts. Among her greatest accomplishments was becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a testament to her nurturing and generous spirit. Her favorite colors were many shades of blue, reflecting her calming presence and deep love for nature.
Emily was a resilient woman, whose strength and determination were an inspiration to all. She lived her life on her own terms, with the belief to "live life like a dog, piss on it and kick grass over it, and if that doesn’t work, bury it where nobody can find it." As a testament to her unique approach to life, she used to say that she cooked for men she should have poisoned and trusted terrible people. Despite the hardships she faced, Emily remained steadfast, always wearing a smile, even while hurting.
Emily leaves behind a profound legacy of love, compassion, and resilience. She reminded us to forgive often, laugh hard, and never fully trust anyone. Her loss will leave a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire us.
