Brooke's obituary
On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, Emily “Brooke” Durr-Guthrie, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, left this world to join our Heavenly Father. She peacefully slipped into eternal life, at the young age of 39 after an intense battle with cancer.
Born on June 28, 1980 in Winchester, Virginia to Gary and Dana Durr, Brooke had a love for all living things, fearlessly picking up wild snakes and “rescuing” animals. She dreamed of being a Veterinarian but later changed her mind declaring she would not be able to euthanize animals. From an early age Brooke exuberated a spirit of peace, love and happiness, that continued throughout her life. She was truly a free spirit that wanted to make the world a better place. Brooke was a difference maker helping those in need and participating in a multitude of events that raised money and awareness for different charitable organizations. She cared deeply for animals and our planet, passionate about reducing waste and pollution, cleaning our oceans and educating others on how they could do their part.
Troubled by the many chemicals in foods and commercial products with inhumane testing on animals Brooke dedicated her time to creating an environmentally friendly, chemical and cruelty free company, 3 Gen[eration] Naturals. In addition to creating soaps, lip balms and oils in her lab, Brooke loved photography and ran her photography business Reflections by Brooke. She was also a dedicated stay at home mother and wife. She enjoyed DIY projects, gardening, cooking and baking preservative free recipes for all to try.
Brooke grew up in Centreville, Virginia where she met her husband, Chad Guthrie. The two married on June 28, 2010, in the Cayman Islands and moved to Warrenton, Virginia where they were raising their three children and regularly attended The Life Church.
Brooke is survived by her husband Chad, daughter Lexy, sons Troy and Luke; parents Gary and Dana Durr; sister Erica Prather and her husband Randy, two nephews Elijah and Randy and niece Sarai. And a host of beloved cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Life Church, 11234 Balls Ford Road, Manassas, Virginia 20109 on Saturday, September 7th at 11am.
