As I recently was preparing to offer comfort to my grandson who’d had a rough dental appointment, I thought, AGAIN, of Emily. She’d insist that any problem she was experiencing, perhaps at work, would iron itself out. But, “I just need sympathy,” she’d smile. “You’ve got it, “ I’d reply. She never asked for more.
Emily always will be my very dear friend. She was patient and kind, not only to me, but to her family, other friends, and to patients she served at the care center. She took time from her own busy schedule indiviually to take patients in need out for a smoke and did so without any judgment or rush.
I met Emily through her work as a nurse and better came to know her when both of us were employed with a care center. I knew her to be kind, good-hearted, and nonjudgmental with all of us fortunate enough to be among her friends and to all patients in her good care. HAPPY BITHDAY, EMILY!
