Everton's obituary
Elverton “Everton” Ziglair McDonald passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by family at his home in New Rochelle, NY. Born on June 16, 1936, Everton’s quiet presence and quick wit will be remembered by all who knew him.
Everton was husband to Joyce McDonald, nee Powell, for nearly 55 years. Joyce was her husband’s primary caregiver throughout his prolonged illness and held steadfastly to their vows, as they were parted only by death.
Everton was the father of five children and seven grandchildren. His role as father and grandfather was very important to him and providing support to his family was the foundation upon which he made decisions throughout his lifetime.
Everton was a master electrician for over forty years and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 30 years. Two projects of note during his career was his work in the World Trade Center and his position as Foreman for the building of the Brooklyn Us Postal Transfer station and Post Office.
Everton is survived by his wife, Joyce, his children: Sharon, Devon, Jennifer, Tara and Phillip, their wives, and children. Everton will be dearly missed but his spirt will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
