Elsie's obituary
Elsie was born to the late Ralph Amado and Nellie Amado on December 5, 1940 in Hyannis, MA. She attended school in Hyannis and graduated from Barnstable High School. After graduating, she relocated to New Jersey where she would later work, marry and raise a family.
Elsie married James “Cookie” Reed in 1971, and they resided together in Vauxhall, NJ where they raised their only daughter, Jill.
Elsie was predeceased by her mother and father, Ralph and Nellie Amado, siblings; Elizabeth (BettyAnne) James,Josephine Johnson,Alyce Amado, Mary Kennard, Cecelia Jefferson, George Amado, Charles (Sonny)Amado, John (Shag) Amado , Lester Amado and her husband James “Cookie” Reed.
She leaves her daughter Jill Hampton and son in law, Kori Hampton, of Union, NJ; (4) grandchildren Corrie Shumate, Sharay Shumate, Kyara Hampton and Kamari Hampton of Union, NJ; a great-granddaughter Zuri Jordan of Union, NJ , a sister: Helen Gaylord (West Dennis, MA) and a host of nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Elsie worked for Eastern Airlines, Kiwi Airlines, and ADP American Express - Corporate Travel before retiring. She absolutely loved to shop and go to garage/yard sales on Saturday mornings, whether she was home or in Cape Cod, MA.She also loved going to Atlantic City. She always had something special for family and friends.
Elsie accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour of her life. She faithfully attended the Love of Jesus Family Church in Orange, NJ. Her faith was strong and she allowed God to use her to bless others. She was our family “Prayer Warrior” and she shared Jesus and the Sinner’s Prayer with all her family and friends.
