Elphie was so tiny when she first moved into the house on Pringle, she fit in my hands. Vicki was out of town for a weekend not long after and I kept getting distracted from House Cup stuff because I had this adorable kitten in my lap.

Much later in life it was always fun to visit and have her decide she was going to sleep with me so she could have someone to hang out with away from the dog.

She always had a certain dignified aloofness but was also really sweet. And so very soft to pet.

When Vicki and Elphie lived in Toronto I was TERRIFIED of cats. Elphie was okay to be around though. She gave me lots of space and would wander over long enough for me to get used to being near a cat.  She was the first crack in helping me get over that fear. (She was also a terror to knit around.)
