Elois's obituary
How do you reduce a rich tapestry of life into a few sentences? We will try…
Elois Delaine Orange was born in a small community called Altair next to Eucutta, MS on October 12, 1939 to Albert Orange and Annie Lou Evans (who both have preceded her in death). When Albert and Ann divorced, Elois and her older sister Tereatha (Vaughn) were raised by their beloved grandmother Katie Orange. Their younger brother Curtis Evans (who has preceded her in death) was raised in the home of their maternal grandparents down the road in Altair. When both Tereatha and Elois were pre-teens they moved to Laurel, MS to live with their father Albert and their stepmother Beatrice. Beatrice early on learned a fascinating fact about Elois in which she would always say, “Sis is like a young tree… you can bend her, but you can’t break her.” Elois would become known as our “tree” and our “family rock”. As a student, Lolo excelled in school graduating at age 18 from Oak Park High School with the class of 1957 where she made life-long friends that would love and support her to the day she took her last breath. Lolo went on to attend Tennessee State University, but left to attend a small college in Minneapolis, MN to study being a medical technician. After graduating, she moved to Chicago, Il to forge a career in the medical field where she focused her interest in nuclear medicine, endocrinology and infertility. She worked at prestigious medical centers such as the University of Chicago, Michael Reese Hospital, Rush Presbyterian Hospital, Cook County Hospital, Duke University and UNC in North Carolina. Along her journey she married Hubert Lawrence Wallace, MD (who preceded her in death) who is Kimbral Larissia’s father and later married Theodore Roosevelt Weddington (he preceded her in death) who is Kelvin Roosevelt Weddington’s father and Kimbral’s adopted father. At Duke University she met her third husband Matthew Timberlake, Jr. who became her best friend and life-long partner until his death.
In 1973, Elois welcomed a stranger into her home who taught her some great Bible truths which piqued her interest the need to learn more about her Creator. She went on to study the bible for several years with other beautiful strangers, but never really committed to this faith due to her career taking off where she received great accolades and honors. Things were going great in her field of infertility where she had a strong record of assisting infertile couples to conceive, but this would eventually leave her empty and discouraged. In 1989 she decided she wanted to “stop the world and get off” and she returned to Chicago to pursue the spiritual knowledge she once abandoned. Elois dedicated her life to serve Jehovah and symbolized that dedication by baptism in 1990. Upon emerging out of the baptismal pool, she locked eyes with the stranger she first invited in her home in 1973 not even knowing she would be attending the same convention! After baptism, Elois wasted no time to courageously embark in the full-time service as a Pioneer. Being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, she acquired a large spiritual family and everlasting friendships. Elois was known for opening her doors for all to come sit at her large dining room table to share a delectable meal she prepared specifically for them and to enjoy warm fellowship.
In 1991 and 1994 she was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren by her son Kelvin. Their names are Lauren Corinne Bohlin (Chris Bohlin) and Brenden Theodore Weddington both whom she adored dearly. Upon retiring, she returned to Laurel, MS where her spiritual family grew exponentially and flourished!
Although “we have come to the end of the road” we have not come to the end of our journey with her. We will focus on our hope and not our hurt. We have a hope and a solid promise from our Great God Jehovah at John 5:28, 29 and Acts 24:15 that we can truly love her “always and forever.” So as Elois takes the “Midnight train to… The New World in the sleeping car, let us not say good-bye, but “see ourselves and see me too” welcoming her “to a world that is new”. (taken from songs she loved)
Elois Delaine Timberlake leaves a treasure chest of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her sister who celebrate her life! We will keep moving forward and pressing on “in the wake of your wind.”
