You and I met many years ago when I was dating your Brother`Michael and later you were my boss at the corner grocery store. We have always had a good relationship and since we were only 1 month apart in age we started calling each other Old Man and Old Lady! I'll miss that! See you again some day Old Man your Brother Mike and I love you and we'll miss you!
I first met Elmer at the bowling alley. We were all on a league and he was trying to get rid of his daughter's and I got stuck with Tracy. Lol. Elmer and I had a fun friendship. He welcomed me right into the family and we done many things together. He took me to the freezer warehouse, it was some situation that he needed help and it wasn't where he was normally working at the time. So, he had me freezing and my nose was dripping everywhere. He cracked up when I told him not to buy anything from Giant for a month, because I dripped on all the frozen stuff. We always had a good time together. He helped us build our house. Electric, plumbing etc. He was trying to electrocute me every chance he had and laughed, he knew I didn't like electricity! He learned not to mess with me to much when I tore a toilet up out of the floor. I had no idea it was bolted down and yanked it up and threw it out. He was shocked and informed me that was not the correct way to remove a toilet. He said " I told the big dummy he was a strong sucker" , he didn't give instructions. We would get together to go out on the boat and I'd bobble my head in his darn van pulling it. I'd make him so mad bobbling my head. We trolled forever, nothing. Crabbed and scored! He was a better bowler than fisherman. As he was battling cancer and was loosing his hair, he asked Tracy to shave his head. As I watched, I told him he looked like Bruce Willis. He really liked that. He in turn gave me his cowboy hat. We were partners in our tanning business, everyone loved Elmer. As he was sick, I made coffee runs, donut runs and any weird thing he wanted. He'd ask us to find him his damn Peeps. He wanted me to watch " War Wagon " with him and he would get mad at Tracy for coming down and saying we had to go. We hadn't ate dinner, he didn't know that. He said we'll never finish this movie. Tracy calls me Bubba and Elmer decided he would too or he'd call me big dummy. He said that with love. He was a best friend and I think /hope he knows I brought him his coffee and Peeps that morning. Until we meet again Elmer, I'm stuck with your peeps!! Thank you for everything!!
He loved horseback riding, fishing & crabbing, dancing, cracking jokes..working on cars ( before they were so computerized) trips to Florida and the trips with his Brothers and Sisters and their spouses. He loved talking with people so much. He was very personable and knew no strangers. If he picked on ya, you were good in his eyes. He could fix almost everything and lose his tools at the same time. He was FUNNY , yet serious too. He loved his family dearly. He was adventurous and a VERY HARD WORKER. He owned a small grocery store that was very successful and Co=owned a tanning salon that he made every client feel like family. He truly was a very good man and respected by so many.
He was a loving husband and dad and grandfather. As his sister in our family of 8 and growing up there are many memories. In the early years of both of our marriages we also were neighbors. Soooo many memories and good times that I cherish. He is now at peace and free from his pain and joined our parents, other brothers and sisters and other family members. My his soul rest in peace and may he continue to watch over us in spirit .
