Sister Maggie's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ellen "Maggie" Severs, lovingly known as Maggie, who departed this world on September 21, 2025. Born in the year of 1956, she spent her life touching others with her art, warmth, and unflinching honesty.

Maggie was more than an artist; she was a devoted Catholic with a deep and abiding belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This faith was ever-present in her life and influenced every brushstroke she made and every word she wrote. She often shared her belief, teaching others about her faith and its importance in her life.

One of Maggie's most significant accomplishments was painting, a medium through which she expressed her creativity, her beliefs and her love for life. Her works are a testament to her unique perspective and deep empathy for the world around her. She also authored a remarkable book entitled "A whisper through life," a heartfelt exploration of her life and faith that will continue to resonate with readers for years to come.

Maggie leaves behind a powerful legacy in the form of her paintings at the UT Museum. These art pieces are not just reflections of her talent but are also embodiments of her spirit and testament to her lifetime spent enriching the lives of those around her with her art and wisdom.

She is survived by her loving daughter's, Amanda Severs, and Emily Freeman Severs .Who remembers Maggie not just as an extraordinary woman but also as a mother, who was a source of constant support, love, and inspiration.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Maggie will remember her as a humble, honest, and warm-hearted individual who had a way of making everyone feel special. Her spirit will continue to live on through her art and the lessons she taught us, making the world a more beautiful place.
