Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth Zajac, 61, passed away on October 23, 2021 in a motor vehicle accident. She was born in Poland on September 19, 1960 to Edward and Genowefa Szymkiewicz. She was the youngest of three daughters.
Elizabeth spent the first twenty years of her life in the small town of Skorkow, Poland on a small farm with her parents and sisters. She married Christopher Zajac in 1980 and soon became a mother to her only child, Camille. Not long after, she would embark on the adventure of leaving her homeland to escape communism and beginning a new life in the United States of America. In the United States, she learned English, was a devoted parent and grandparent, and was always generously giving of her time, efforts, and thoughtful gifts to those she loved. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
Later in life, she met Mark Hessenius in 2011 and they were married in 2017. She was Mark’s best friend, love of his life and soulmate. She always lit up a room and loved life to its fullest. The impact she made on Mark’s life and anyone she met will always be remembered. She will be missed and never forgotten.
She worked for Kavo-Kerr (ISI) for the past 12 years as a hard-working and dedicated employee and always tried to make work fun. She enjoyed decorating her house, taking care of her flowers and plants, and found joy in the simplest things in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Genowefa Szymkiewicz and her brother-in-law Adam Kaminski.
She is survived by her husband Mark Hessenius and his two sons, Ryan and Patrick Hessenius, her sisters Anna (Szymkiewicz) Lagierska and Grazyna (Szymkiewicz) Kaminska, her daughter Camille (Zajac) Malucci and son-in-law Jason Malucci, and her grandchildren Charles, Genevieve, Leo, Anthony, Edward, and Benedict Malucci.
Her funeral Mass will be said at The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa at 645 Ferry Road, Doylestown, PA 18901 on October 29, 2021 at 12:30PM. The service will be held in the cemetery Chapel, located in the back of the complex. Travel through the cemetery gates to the end of the drive to the red cemetery Chapel. Close family and friends are invited to lunch at the cafeteria following the service and burial.
In lieu of flowers, we decided the best way to honor Elizabeth's life was to provide a path to donate to children's cancer research. Please see the link below to donate directly to St. Jude's on Elizabeth's behalf.
