Elizabeth's obituary

Elizabeth Jean Wade Murray, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2023, at the age of 66 at her home in Greenville, NC. The daughter of Shirley and James Wade, born on December 11th in Boston, Massachusetts, Elizabeth lived a life marked not only by love and nurturing but also by an admirable resilience that defined her character.

A 1976 graduate of Mansfield High School in Mansfield, MA, Elizabeth went on to work in several customer service positions, but her favorite was driving a cab in Mansfield and on Nantucket Island as well as caring for the elderly at a local senior center. Elizabeth spent much of her life in Mansfield, Attleboro and Nantucket Island, before spending her later years in Greenville, NC.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Jennifer Murray and her Wife Liberty Rodgers of Pembroke Pines, FL, her son Jeffrey Murray of Rhode Island, her five grandchildren, Darien Murray, Brianna Murray, Mackenzie Murray, Evan Murray, Lily Murray, her fur babies Buddy and Josie and several of her siblings, Craig Wade of Anchorage, Alaska, Richard Wade of Mansfield Massachusetts, Jennifer Wade Bennett or Palmyra, Nebraska, Susan Wade of Attleboro, Gregory Wade of Bridgewater, Jamie Wade of Mansfield, Brian Wade of Maine as well as her beloved nephew, Craig Wade and among many other nieces and nephews. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her brothers Bobby Wade and Gary Wade.

Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, Elizabeth confronted each hurdle with unwavering strength and grace. Her ability to overcome life’s struggles while maintaining her kindness and compassion was a source of inspiration to everyone around her. Her journey was a testament to the power of the human spirit, teaching us all the valuable lessons of perseverance with a gentle heart. We all will miss her greeting cards and personalized messages she so graciously sent for every holiday and life occasion.

An avid pet lover, Elizabeth shared her life with a menagerie of cherished pets over the years, each of whom she loved and cared for with immense devotion. Her home was often filled with the playful barks and soft purrs that only such beloved companions can bring. Her dogs Buddy and Josie were the light of her life and are being cared for by a cousin, Pegi MacDonald, until they cross the rainbow bridge and join Elizabeth in Heaven.

Elizabeth had a gift, a spark of humor that she generously shared, brightening each day with laughter and light. With a joke always at the ready, she turned ordinary moments into joyous memories, weaving a tapestry of mirth and merriment that warmed the hearts of all who knew her. On Facebook, her posts were beacons of positivity, casting rays of sunshine through the digital clouds and lifting spirits with every word she typed.

Elizabeth’s love for nature was evident in her beautiful garden, a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit. She had a particular fondness for sunflowers, loving how they reached for the sun, standing tall and bright against the sky. Her garden was not just a place of beauty but a sanctuary where she found peace and solace, often accompanied by the delicate flutter of dragonflies — a creature she adored for its grace and resilience. In her grace and resilience, she showed us how to face life's challenges with courage and dignity, turning every obstacle into a steppingstone, and every moment into a lesson in love and perseverance.

As we say not a goodbye to Elizabeth, but until we see each other again, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched. Her laughter, love, and wisdom have left an indelible mark on our hearts, reminding us to appreciate the simple joys of life, from the beauty of a blooming garden to the delicate grace of a dragonfly's flight.

Elizabeth will be dearly missed but never forgotten, as her spirit, like the sunflowers in her garden, will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her. Her journey reminds us of the profound strength that lies in kindness and the enduring beauty of a soul that, against all odds, chooses love and light.

A graveside service, mass and celebration of life will be conducted on Thursday May 30th at 3:00pm at Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield, MA.

In memory of Elizabeth who carried a boundless love for animals in her heart, the family kindly suggests contributions to Pegi MacDonald to help with the care of her fur babies while in hospice care or No Critters Left Behind of NC in lieu of flowers. Though life's circumstances meant Elizabeth couldn't always extend her support as fully as she desired, her passion for animal welfare never wavered. Your donations will be a tribute to her dream, helping to provide care and sanctuary for animals in need, and ensuring that her compassionate spirit continues to make a difference in the lives she wished to touch.
