Liz's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Liz" Standley on June 15, 2025. Born on July 6, 1936, she was one of life's firm pillars known for her strength, grace, and unyielding spirit. Liz, as she was fondly called, forever etched her mark in the hearts of those who knew her.
Liz leaves behind a loving family; her daughters, Cathy Stearman, Janet Potter, Kimberly Crumpton; her son, Michael Stearman; and her grandchildren, Nicole Francis, Dustin (Sara) Potter, Kyle York, Luke York and Bryan Stearman, She was also a Great-Grandmother to Delilah Covington. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Standley, and her brother, Ronald Standley. She was predeceased by her mother, Hattie Standley, her father, Claude Standley, her sister, Delores Jenkins, her sons, Mark Stearman, James Stearman, and her ex-husbands, Bobby Stearman and James (Jim) Raschke.
Liz's life was filled with many milestones. She graduated from Bowen High School in Chicago, IL in 1954. She married Bobby Stearman in 1956 and was blessed with their children. After their divorce in 1962, she found love again and married James (Jim) Raschke in 1972. Throughout her life, Liz moved to different parts of the country, finally settling in Cedar Creek, TX in 1996.
Liz was a woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Her favorite games included Pinocle, Poker, Canasta, and Aggravation. In her spare time, she found comfort in reading and crocheting. She loved the color blue and found immense joy in visiting Hawaii, one of her favorite vacation spots.
Beyond her many achievements and interests, what stood out about Liz was her indomitable spirit and the love she had for her family. She was the glue that held everyone together, and her vibrant memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
We will deeply miss Liz, but we find solace in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with her beloved ones who predeceased her.
