Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth Gale Sawyer, 71, was born to eternal life December 18, 2023. She was the loving mother of Erin (Warren) Maness, and Brianna Sawyer; fond grandmother of Emily, Drew, and Bailey; sister of Eugene Anderson, Joanna Joseph, Catherine Lassen, Evangeline (Jeff) Banfill; Milyn Vollmer, Arlyn Vollmer, Betty Mann Doubt. She was preceeded in death by her parents Paul Gale Bachman and Rose Evangeline Bachman; brothers Valentine Bernard, Samuel Bachman, sister, Carol (Jim) Rusch, daughter, Maliaka Sawyer, husband Ernest Sawyer.
Liz was raised in Lewistown and attended Mt. Ellis Academy in Bozeman, then graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1970. Her young adult adventures took her to Denver, CO and Germany, but ultimately she called Montana "home". Liz pursued her education and graduated with an associates degree in Broadcast Communications from The College of Great Falls in 1984.
She was passionate about the arts and participated in a number of musical performances. She especially favored storytelling songs she could sing with gusto and humor. "Froggy Went a-Courtin'","Walking After Midnight", "The King and I."
Liz loved God and shared his love by caring for others. She spent many years working with children at Magic Forest Day Care Center, the Hutterite colony, and Shining Mountain Adventist Elementary. She also became a CNA and worked at the Lewistown hospital/nursing home.
She was devoted to her church families, The Seventh-Day Adventist Church and The First Presbyterian Church. She never drew lines of separation, but always enjoyed learning others points of view. Having intelligent conversations encouraged her open mindedness and pursuit of learning and loving.
One of her most notable accomplishments was the ability to touch the lives of many in a deep and meaningful way. She carefully and thoughtfully crafted special note cards to send to all her friends and family, remaining in contact despite the miles of separation. Indeed, every person who crossed paths with Liz experienced a ripple of her positive energy and an imprint of her radiant spirit. This was a testament to her optimistic view of life and her deep-rooted belief in Jesus Christ.
Liz was blessed with a personality of generosity, humility, and joy, with the cornerstone being her tremendous capacity for love. As a kind and gentle soul, she was a beacon of warmth, light, and wisdom to all those who were fortunate to know her. Her lessons to us were simple yet profound - to be kind, to forgive, and most importantly, to always carry a song in one's heart.
Today, it gives us solace to know that Liz is rejoicing in heaven, singing with the angelic choir. Though we mourn her physical departure, we celebrate her life, her teachings, and the indelible imprint she has left behind. May her soul rest in peace. Elizabeth, your spirit will always be a guiding light, an inspiration, and a testament to a life beautifully lived.
