BETTY's obituary

Elizabeth Earl “Betty” Schrader Moody born July 1, 1934, in Memphis TN to Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Schrader, passed away December 28, 2025, in Chesapeake VA. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy D. Moody, her eldest daughter Marylynn Ryan, and her son-in-law Thomas Brennan. She is survived by her children Roy “Cowboy” Moody Jr., Elizabeth Allison Brennan, and Lisa (Tommy) Moore; a step-daughter Faye Williams;  a son-in-law Bill Ryan; her 10 Grandchildren: Holly (Jason) Lake, Ken (Kristen) Williams, Bill (Katie) Ryan, Ian (Kara) Ryan, Caitrin (Steve) McSherry, Roya (Geoff) Skinner, Devin (Joshua) Didier, Niamh (Heidi) Brennan, David (Heather) Brennan, and John Bright IV ; and 21 Great-Grand Children.

Betty attended the University of Tennessee for nursing after high school, and found her place at Methodist Hospital in Memphis TN. After 40+ years of caring for others and her own, Betty retired to a life of family and football. After initially being an avid University of Tennessee fan from her early adulthood, she found pride in Notre Dame’s team… unless they played UT.

She relished spending time with her many family members and friends, and all who knew her knew she was always in the mood to play any card, dice, or puzzle games. She had a competitive edge, but it was always with love (maybe). All in all, she loved a good challenge .

A devoted Daughter. A loving Mother. A knowledgeable Grandmommy. A wise Great Grandmommy. A witty friend. She will be missed greatly by many.

A Mass will be held in Germantown, TN at OLPH on January 30, 2026 @ 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made  to Saint Peters Villa,  Catholic Charities of West Tennessee, or your favorite Catholic charity.
