Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth L. Mac Arthur was a wonderful Mother to her four children: Robin, Sandra, Page, and Douglas. She was also adored by her three grandchildren, Braxton, Josilyn, and Grace and her great grandchild Bronson.
She grew up in Stoneham, MA and she graduated from Stoneham High School with the class of 1948. In 1952, she graduated from Melrose Hospital School of Nursing. She spent her RN career specializing in the operating room and recovery room.
She loved her children and raised them as a single parent in Uncasville, Connecticut, with financial support from her former husband, Douglas Mac Arthur. Wherever she lived, she always had lots of friends and beautiful gardens.
After her nursing career she retired to Centerville, Cape Cod delighted in spending time with her grandson, Braxton. They were buddies and did everything fun together. She loved when her grandchildren Josilyn and Grace from Oregon, would visit annually. During the last few years of her life she was able to spend time with Braxton and Nichole’s son Bronson, her great grandson.
Her three kids, Robin, Sandra, and Doug, plus Braxton and Nichole were able to spend time with her on Cape Cod for the last 20 years. She loved having family parties, birthday celebration and most holidays. Another wonderful tradition was taking the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard to celebrate Mothers Day.
She enjoyed yoga classes, swimming, Dunkin Donuts coffee breaks and lobster rolls at Four Seas Ice Cream. Her sister Marge lived close by and they would meet monthly to go shopping and out for lunch. They remained close for their entire lives. Marge was the best big sister she could ever have asked for. They were lucky to have each other.
She was active up until 5 months before her peaceful death, at the age of 93. She died in her sleep at Regalcare of Harwich, MA, a memory care facility.
Betty will be forever loved and missed.
