Elizabeth "Liz"'s obituary
and a season for every activity under the heavens”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
On January 29. 2020, God looked around his garden and found an empty place and said hmmm I need a beautiful rose that will make this garden blossom. He then looked down upon the earth and out of all the roses he could have chosen it was “Liz” who made the garden complete.
Elizabeth Lott Horne affectionately called “Liz” was born in Laurel, Mississippi on April 11, 1955 to Sidney Lott, Sr and Bertha McDonald Lott, of Heidelberg, Mississippi.
She attended Mt. Olive Elementary School and Northeast Jones High School of Laurel, Mississippi. After graduating high school, she moved to Rochester, New York. She was employed as a Supervisor for Johnson & Johnson where she worked for many years.
“Liz” joined Beaver Meadow Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and accepted Christ as her personal savior. She was baptized in the pond of Bud and Mattie Taylor just below Beaver Meadow Church.
Everyone who truly knew “Liz” knew that she was well loved by her family and friends. “Liz” was always making life exciting and you know she cared about you. She was a person who everyone knew and would speak her truth and did not sugar coat the truth of the moment. She was full of life, laughter and love. She gave more than most and many times received less. Nonetheless, that never stopped her from loving, caring, or giving. When she agreed with you about something you could her saying loud and clear “I Know That’s Right”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Bertha Lott of Heidelberg, MS; a sister Tempie Lott Terrell of Heidelberg, MS; two nephews, Benjamin Antwan Terrell of Waynesboro, MS and Samuel “Tiger” Bronson of Rochester, NY; two great nieces, Jasmine Terrell of Alabama and Shauron Ward of Rochester, NY; two great nephews, Kevone Wilson of Rochester, NY and Jarrett Lott of Detroit, MI.
Now to carry on her legacy and memory, she leaves Willie (Jelly) Cox of Georgia; two daughters, Lamecia Michelle (Alterique) Day and Roxcie Teal of Rochester, NY; two sons, William Cox and Tyshaun Cox of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Dorothy “Doris Ann” Lott Bronson of Rochester, NY and Pinky Lott Jones of Laurel, MS; eight brothers, C.W.
