Betsy's obituary

Elizabeth "Betsy" Hartanov, 69, of Kildeer, IL, passed away on December 03, 2022 after an ongoing battle with complications from Multiple Sclerosis.

Betsy was born on February 14, 1953 to Harriet and Chuck Wesche in Des Plaines, IL. After graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1971, she went on to study English at Northern Illinois University, where she was in the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and made lifelong friendships with her close group of friends who were close until her passing.

After graduation, she landed her first job as a high school English teacher at Palatine High School for several years. She met her other half, Randy, at Northern Illinois, and they wed in 1978, going on to have 2 children, Justin and Grant.

When Betsy had Grant, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and committed mother. Betsy excelled at supporting her boys through the many passions in their lives - especially baseball and football.  She led a selfless life and made it her mission to have the best family possible while also enjoying hosting Super Bowl parties with her friends, reading, and playing tennis in her younger years.

Betsy was a determined fighter and courageous until her final days as she did not allow her MS diagnosis to stop her from years of travel and spending time with her boys and their wives along with her grandchildren, as well as her sister.  She also was a steadfast breast cancer survivor.  Throughout all of her fights, she remained extremely positive and did not allow her disease to let her miss out on life, love, and happiness. We will miss her greatly.

Betsy was predeceased by her parents, Harriet and Chuck. She is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, Randy, along with her sons Justin (Creighton) and Grant (Sara); grandchildren Aniston, Reagan, and Grady; and sister Nancy (Jim) Palumbo.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations are made to the National MS Society. There will be a memorial service and celebration of life on Saturday, February 11th with a welcoming reception at 9:30am followed by a mass at 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church at in Inverness, Illinois.
