Beth's obituary
Elizabeth “Beth” Handly, 55, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on August 14th, 2022.
Beth was born on May 17th, 1967 to John and Carol Handly in Merriam, Kansas. After graduating from Blue Valley High School in 1985, she went on to study at William Jewell College from 1985-1987 before transferring to Kansas State University, where in 1990 she earned her B.A. in English Literature and B.S. in Secondary Education.
In the summer of 1987, she met Martin Peck at Heartland Presbyterian Camp, where they were both camp counselors. They wed in 1990, going on to have two children, Luna and Julia Peck. Beth and Martin separated in 2019 and finalized divorce in 2021.
Beth worked as an administrative assistant and office manager for the Texas Department of Mental Health from 1990-1993 and as a copy editor and graphic designer for Clark Publishing from 1993-1995. She gave birth to her first child, Luna, in 1995, and second child, Julia, in 1998. From 1995 to 2004 she was a wonderful full-time, stay-at-home mother. From 2004 to 2009, she was the art teacher and librarian at Wellington Christian Academy. From 2013 to 2019 she was the legal assistant and office manager for her then-husband, Martin.
Beth was predeceased by her mother, Carol Keeler Handly, in 2016. She is survived and greatly missed by her children, Luna and Julia; her father, John Handly; and brother, Michael Handly.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26th at 1 pm at the Village Presbyterian Church on Antioch in Overland Park, Kansas. After the service there will be a reception with her favorite snacks and beverages. Beth always wanted people to wear bright colors or their favorite outfit to her funeral to celebrate her life.
