Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth (Liz) Dale, 64, of McKinney, TX passed away unexpectedly on Sept 7th, 2022 from septic shock. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. She was born in Jackson Mississippi on January 31, 1958 to Cotton and Audrey Gilbert.
She was truly an original with her quirky humor and artistic creativity.
It was clear Elizabeth was different from a very young age, she always wore a smile and had a funny wit, as a freshman in high school her classmates selected her as the wittiest.
Due to her father being in the oil field business the family moved several times and Liz attended schools in Jackson, MS, Lafayette, LA and Midland, TX.
Liz was not one to just sit around, so after Gene and her were married on April 3, 1980, she started taking courses at the Richland Dallas County Community College in June of 1980 and she made the honor roll every semester. After Nick was born she took a lengthy break from college to be a full-time mother to Nick and Keegan. As Keegan and Nick got a little older, she started back to college at the University of North Texas, graduating Cum Laude in May of 2001 with an Interior Design degree.
Over the years she worked for Corgan Associates, Closets by Design, Capital One and Cardinal Senior Benefits.
Liz was extremely kind, smart, honest, and loving to all that she came into contact with. Those within her inner circle were destined to hear the zany nicknames that she would give to the kids (and Gene). As her mother grew older, Liz was a devoted daughter vigilantly looking after her—coordinating doctor appointments, grocery shopping, taking her for hair appointments and regularly taking her out to eat. She always made sure her mother’s phone and computer were kept up-to-date, which proved to be a bit of a challenge
Above her artwork, she loved spending time with family playing games like spades, hearts, rummikub and assembling large jigsaw puzzles. However, she had a long list of new adventures for the future, such as seeing the Grand Canyon, the Sequoia National Forest, Yellowstone National Forest and going on an Alaskan Inland cruise . But her most cherished plans involved her grandkids, taking them to Disney World, going to movies, sharing her artwork , watching them in school activities, and simply being a loving grandparent as they grew up. So many hopes and dreams for the future----"A life unfinished”.
With a large family and even larger group of friends, her loss is truly and deeply felt.
Elizabeth is survived by Gene, her husband of 42 years , her sons Keegan and Nick, her sisters Cindy and Jeanine, her brother Michael, her grandchildren Jack and Skyler, her daughter in law Candace, plus several nephews and nieces.
