Elizabeth's obituary

Elizabeth J Cruz (Betsy), maiden name Hatch, born August 24, 1957 passed away suddenly at home on Thursday May 26th. Betsy is survived by her husband Manuel Cruz, her 5 children Sandra Droz, Francis Anderson (Danielle), Thomas Anderson(Dominique), Timothy Anderson (Joshlynn), Anna Cruz (Rochelle), her 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and siblings Barbara Daniels and Christopher Hatch. She is predeceased by her parents Earl Hatch and Nancy Fowler, her brothers Roy Steeleman and David Hatch, her sister Susan Downs, her son Christopher Anderson and her daughter Maria Cruz.

Betsy was born at Bridgeport Hospital, lived in Woodmont, Ct and Guilford, Ct until marrying and moving to New Haven, Ct. She eventually moved to Milford, Ct and then Bridgeport, Ct after being remarried to Manuel Cruz. Betsy was a nurse in the air force for a short time. Betsy also worked at her mothers nursing home, Secondies, and had several other jobs before entering into her most prideful job of taking care of her children and grandchildren. Betsy loved spending her time with her children and grandchildren. They were her world. Her Sunday’s were spent feeding her army of 20 and others that joined. She also cherished her relationships with her siblings. Those that knew Betsy knew that she held an open door and open heart to all that came and met her. Her loving demeanor and open arms will forever leave a lasting impression on those that met her.

A graveside service will be held at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. The date is tbd and will be announced early next week.
