Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth was one of those rare souls whose brilliance could light up a room and still make everyone else feel seen. She loved deeply, and everyone in her orbit felt it — her beloved husband Kurt, her family, her friends, and her soulmates in fur: Sir Patrick, Skeeter, Jubilee, and Lola.
Elizabeth lived life as an ongoing act of creation. She could turn an ordinary day into something extraordinary. Whether she was explaining the intricacies of the law, the stitches of her Walking Dead knit dolls, or the drops of goo on her zombie costumes, her creativity was endless and her imagination fearless.
Elizabeth was also a fierce advocate for justice and human rights, a voice for those who needed one most. She was likely your smartest friend, but also the kindest, the one who listened, challenged, and inspired in equal measure.
Her humor was legendary. She loved the absurd and the silly just as much as the clever and cerebral, and when she laughed, it came from her whole body.
She loved Star Trek and Doctor Who, and could quote either at the perfect moment. She ran five miles every day through the UC Berkeley campus, cooked like a magician, and read voraciously. She lived with both curiosity and conviction, a combination that made her unforgettable.
We will miss her compassion. We will miss her integrity. We will miss her incredible intellect, her sweetness, her fierceness, her numerous impressions, her boundless spirit, and her laughter.
We will just miss her.
