Elizabeth's obituary

God opened His arms and welcomed home Elizabeth J. Carper "Nanny, Liz" Beard, 94, of Roanoke, Va. on Saturday, February 5, 2011. She was wife of the late Robert E. Beard and the daughter of the late Frank P. and Mary Edna Carper. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Carper and sister, Helen C. Stewart, son, Bobby E. Beard and wife, Juanita, and daughter, Sandra B. Flinchum. Nanny leaves to cherish her memory, her sister and brother-in-law, May and Kenneth Edwards; sister, Margaret C. Beard; granddaughters and son-in-laws, Pamela B. Ford, Rebecca and Roy Lambert, Bobbie Jo and Kenny Hubbard, Cindy and Jason Tyree, Jamie and Duffy Ferguson; her much loved great-grandchildren, Zach DeLung, Shane and Cody Lambert, Jessica and Jonathan Hubbard, Kevin and Kaitlyn Ferguson; and special friend Jose Kainady. Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Vinton Chapel. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. Roger Okes at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Lotz Vinton Chapel and interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or Breast Cancer Association. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of 10 West of Roanoke Memorial, CPTS, and the special staff of the Berkshire Nursing Home.
