Elizabeth's obituary
Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and business owner. Elizabeth had a genuine interest in people and if one spent any time with her, she knew the life story as if she’d been around your whole life; she was famous for at least 20 questions. This was true all of her life and in her waning years she knew all about any of her daily caregivers, doctors, nurses or people she would encounter.
Elizabeth was always an active member in whatever community she lived or organization she was involved with. She served on multiple charitable boards and was an active fund raiser for countless organizations over her lifetime. One prime example was 26 years ago when she first moved to Rancho Carlsbad, she and her husband George became publishers and editors of the “RC News,” a community magazine which they actually created. They were passionate about their monthly publication for over 10 years, which often had them editing, publishing, creating the articles, interviewing new homeowners to the community, as well as selling advertising space to local businesses to support the publication of the magazine. One of her many “hats” that she continued after giving up most of her responsibilities of the “R.C.News” was interviewing and writing articles about new homeowners and existing homeowners in the Rancho Carlsbad Community. She came to know many people that way and loved making many new friends through her service to the community.
She and George became strong supporters of the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad and tirelessly devoted time and money to making the organization known to the Rancho Carlsbad community. That legacy lives on at the Teen Center of the Carlsbad Boys and Girls Club, which was built entirely with funds from Rancho Carlsbad. With her husband, George, she was an active member of the local chapter of Kiwanis, attending their meetings as an honorary member after George passed in 2015. Elizabeth had a special place in her heart for PEO and Pi Beta Phi. She loved to get together with the women of those two charitable organizations at their regular monthly meeting and events.
Elizabeth’s always cheerful optimistic demeanor, persistent attitude, steady strong mindedness and sense of class and style will be missed by her family and her countless close friends.
