Beth's obituary
Elizabeth 'Beth' Ann Burke, who lived and loved loudly, departed us peacefully on Sunday 11/10/24 at the age of 62. She is preceded in death by her dear mother & father, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Burke & Frederick Burke, her soul dog Creed, and a line of loved ones waiting for her in the Angel Wings. She is survived by her three beloved children TJ Sweigart (Jen), Katie Sweigart (Will) & Haylee Harknett (Evan); her steadfast partner, William Harknett; her cherished siblings Frederick Burke, Tommy Burke & Colleen Maidenbaum; the saints of the Burke family, Pam Burke & Alan Maidenbaum; her darling nieces and nephew: Stacy Burke, Sarah Burke-Kontis (Thomas), Shaina Bridges, Shelly Burke & Nicholas Maidenbaum; and her pride and joy, her army of grands: Kaleigh Sweigart, Makenzie Sweigart, Serenity Miller, Zoey Pilcher, Paige Sweigart, Zane Sweigart, Addilynn Bridges, Avery Bridges, Alyvia Bridges, Anthony Bridges & Declan Billingham.
Beth Burke taught us all how to keep dancing, that freckles are angel kisses, and that even in the darkest days, there is beauty and goodness all around. She was a fearless leader and a proud member of the Pennsylvania Democrats. She was working on her campaign for office because she was endlessly devoted to fighting for the rights of all. She was a Birds Girl at heart, and is most certainly responsible for the first Eagles win against the Cowboys in Dallas in 7 years on the day of her passing. A parting gift for us all.
We remember her with an eternal gratitude for the years we had with her.
Sister. Mom. Aunt Beth. Nan.
We’ll feel her absence forever.
And if she could tell us one more thing, we know it would be this:
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance.
