Betty (Elizabeth)'s obituary
Betty was born Elizabeth June Barker in 1949 to the late Herman Giles and Rena (Ralph) Neat Disney in Seymour Indiana. and spent many colorful years in California, Arizona and Florida before going home to our Lord and Savior on April 1, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. In 1967, she met and married the love of her life, Loy Barker of Los Angeles, California. and he survives. Betty was proud to be a wife and homemaker, and faithfully stood by Loy's side as he struggled to establish his restaurant supply business, and beamed with pride as they grew it into a flourishing success. Betty loved sunny southern California and Florida, but she was a Hoosier at heart, and was thankful to spend the last year of her life in her beloved home state. She lived only for a brief time in Arizona, and did not care for the desert heat, but no one ever knew, as she never complained about the temperatures and would often remark the "Arizona desert is as beautiful as the sloping hills of Indiana."
Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour, and First Sarasota Baptist Church in Sarasota. She volunteered and taught Sunday School classes at First Missionary Baptist Church while living in California.
Betty enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and canning. She loved southern gospel music and enjoyed attending Gaither Homecomings whenever possible. She was a very giving person and was known for opening her heart and home to neighborhood children wherever she lived. But most of all she loved her family. The words of 1 Peter 3:4 paint a beautiful picture of Betty's life.
