Lulu's obituary

Eliu Sanchez, known by most as Lulu was born September 1, 1936. Born to Ines and Minerva Sanchez. His father was a pastor of a church and as a family they worked harvesting cotton in Texas. From a very young age Lulu was taught to love God, serve others in need, and to work hard.

He served in the United States Army and then headed to Colorado to work and join other family members in Denver. Here he met and married his wife June Medina. They moved to Northglenn and started their family and Custom Gutters. His love for his work was evident as he often worked from dawn to dusk. He always took great pride in anything he put his hands on and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

As a father he was a gentle and patient instructor. He modeled and lived the Fruits of the Spirit. His children Mary Jane and Larry were always his greatest pride and joy. He was never shy if given the chance to brag about his children. To him, his greatest accomplishment was his family and he loved the day he became a “Papo” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lulu loved to travel, he always made time for family reunions. He felt the country was best seen driving from town to town taking back roads whenever possible. His adventures took him all over the U.S. and no one was a stranger. When possible he would join in on games of chess in cafes, a game he had mastered.

Once he retired and “Got tired of watching his grass grow” he purchased his RV and hit the road. He crossed many state lines to make various visits to see family and friends old and new. Lulu mastered the art of “Dropping by.” He made special trips to places his family talked about seeing and took pictures along the way. His kids were worried most of the time trying to keep track of where he was, but he was carefree. He was living his retirement dream.

He loved cars...chrome, nice wheels and beautiful interior. His love for cars led him to join T-Bird and SSr clubs where he gained many good friends meeting at car shows across the country. He loved music, Especially Elvis and Johnny Cash. He visited Branson, MO many times enjoying all the shows. He loved being surrounded by his family and filling the room with laughter. In between trips he stationed himself in Oklahoma and Colorado where he could be close to his children Mary Jane and Larry, his 5 grandchildren (Mat, Nicki, Colton, Caitlyn, and Cody) and his 5 great grandchildren (Rilyn, Nulla, Aven, Laelle, and Jude). He loved to laugh and to hold his grandbabies and smother them with...as they would say “wet kisses”.

He was devoted to his faith and never missed church no matter where he was.

On Thursday November 4, 2021, with his son Larry and grandson Mat by his side, he left this earth too soon, and went in peace into the hands of our Savior. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his Laugh, his positive attitude, and his love for everyone. Lulu is survived by his five loving siblings: Enriqueta, Naomi, Eddie, Lee, and Minerva.

He seized life with Joy, He gave to life generously.

He leaves a legacy of love and laughter.
