Background
Elissa enjoyed a remarkable and distinguished career. She was often described by colleagues as a giant in dietetics. During her 50 years in the field, she worked with countless nursing homes, assisted care facilities, hospitals, and dietetics organizations across California. She regularly mentored interns and was a tirelessly generous source of expertise, advice, and connection. In tribute to her profound and lasting impact, her family is proud to establish the Elissa Olson Scholarship for Aspiring Dietitians as one small way of paying forward her passion and brilliance in the field of dietetics to future generations. This fund will be designed to help one or more undergraduates with their annual tuition, determined through yearly merit-based applications. We will plan to partner closely with Cal Poly Pomona, from where Elissa regularly received interns and also completed her MBA, and potentially other undergraduate programs on the horizon.
