Background
Sunday, July 31st of, 2022, the world lost one of its greatest and sweetest angels. Twenty years wasn’t enough time with Elijah Constantine Smith, who had an indescribable light about him. Everywhere he went, he left a wake of laughter and love. His generosity and infinite compassion made him the best friend and companion of many. His wits, sharpness, and kindness made him the best son. He was so bright -- in every sense of the word. Even if it was just meeting him briefly, everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Elijah could feel that he was special, different--he felt more deeply than most. He loved and laughed harder and cared more than most people ever could. This loss is devastating for all those who love him but especially hard for his loving family. Elijah inspired community and love everywhere he went. During his time with us, Elijah cultivated a village of people he loved and loved him so deeply. Now, as a community, we must come together to support Elijah’s family and honor all the ideals Elijah believed in and all the lessons he taught us. We must come together to get each other through the pain and grief of losing one of the sweetest souls this world has seen. Elijah rests peacefully now. Let us band together to help his loved ones say goodbye to him so they can find peace, as well.
