Elijah Howard Darland (1938-2024)

Howard Darland, 86, of Monticello, KY died in the loving arms of his wife on September 19, 2024.

He was born in Harrodsburg, KY on August 9th, 1938 to Onus and Carrie Darland. Howard was very proud to have served in the Air Force before making a career in truck driving which he enjoyed immensely.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Onus and Carrie Darland; his brother Bill Darland; his daughter, Suzanne Darland Elliott; and his son in law, CJ Carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Darland; his daughter, Carrie Carpenter; and his grandsons: Joe Vinyard (Danielle), TJ Elliott (Amanda), and Josh Vinyard (Beth); along with his many great grandchildren who he loved dearly.

There will be a celebration of life on Wednesday, September 25th at Young’s Park in Harrodsburg, KY from 5pm-10pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society in Howard’s memory.
