Elias's obituary
Elias Rodriguez passed away from advanced age and long standing battle with diabetes. He is now in peace. Elias was one of the "good ones", a hero, a man of intelligence, strength and presence. A man of integrity and purpose. He could be big and scary and just as lovable and sweet, a beautiful enigma. He gave with an open heart and loved the bible and studying the bible. He was a hidden animal lover. They all loved him. He was like an old tree, its hard to believe it would ever wither away and not bounce back with the wind. Now there is great gaping hole where the tree once stood.
Elias Rodriguez was born in Lares, Puerto Rico to Gilberto Rodriguez and Adelina Roman. He was 1 of 15 children. Born to simple life in the mountainous farming region of Lares. Dad would often tell us stories about how he didn't have shoes until he was 9 years old and the soles of his feet were thick from running barefoot. He said one day when he woke up after a storm, his entire field of plantains had been blown away. He was devastated and at the young age of 16 he gave up on farm life, He said he never looked back and left the Island to travel North to USA to make his new life. It was there he met and married Nereida Ramos. He was married to Nereida Rodriguez-Ramos for 57 years.
A self made man, becoming a successful businessman and investor. Known as "Jack" in his early days after arriving to US he stablished Jack's Drywall and later founded Elro Enterprise Construction Company, both after returning to the Island for a short while where he worked as a Terrazzo Craftsman and stablished Puerto Rico Floor Service. He was a father of four children and one beautiful grandson. He was beloved and respected. As a longstanding member of the religious organization of Jehovah's Witnesses he was loved for bringing many people to the JW family. When he wasn't working and spending time with his family he was spreading the word of God out in field service and bringing others to learn about Jehovah's promises.
