Eleska's obituary

Eleska Kay (“Kay”) Montgomery, loved by many and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on April 7, 2022, at the age of 87, surrounded by her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Brian K. Montgomery, parents Lloyd C. Hicks and Muriel C. Farrior Hicks, her brothers Lloyd R. Hicks and L. David Hicks, her step-grandson James Bryan III, and her first husband, Louis E. Odom, Sr.

Kay was a graduate of Murphy High School and worked for many years at and retired from the Alcoa Aluminum Company. She was very active in the Episcopal Church in and around the Mobile area. Kay was involved in many community charity events and she had good friends that brought her a lot of joy for many years. It was not uncommon to find Kay mentoring someone to help them earn their GED, serving food to the homeless on a holiday, or supporting a friend or family member in need.

The thing Kay loved most was spending time with her family and many friends.   She is survived by her son and daughter in-law Louis Edward Odom, Jr. (Pam), Michael Lloyd Odom (Leigh), her grandsons Ryan Odom (Charissa), Garett Odom, and Landon Odom (Jenna), her great grandchildren Quinn Odom and Luke Odom. Kay is also survived by her step-children Tom Montgomery (Susan), John Montgomery, and Pam Montgomery Bryan (Jay), and her step-grandchildren, Maggie Bryan Hoffman (Eric), William Bryan, Anna Montgomery and Marie Montgomery, and step-great grandchild Evie Hoffman. Contributions in Kay’s memory can be made to Wilmer Hall Children’s Home at 3811 Old Shell Rd. Mobile, AL 36608 or online at www.wilmerhall.org/donate .
